Before joining Spurs this summer, Postkoglu spent two years in charge of Celtic, where he won five titles, including a historic domestic treble. Speaking about why he left Celtic to join Tottenham, the Australian coach said: “For me, managing a big club that has not been successful for a long time is a motivation, I like the challenge, I am used to the challenge, take a team that has not been successful for a long time and then lead them to success.”

“It’s a story that has happened throughout my career, when I was in charge of South Melbourne they hadn’t won the league for seven years; Coached Brisbane Lion Roar, who had never won a title before; Coaching the Yokohama Mariners, who have not won a title in 15 years; Coaching the Celtics, they just had a barren year, but for the Celtics, a year without a championship is almost like 15 years without a championship. So I chose Tottenham because it’s been a long time since they won a title and that’s very attractive to me.”
