Last season,
under the guidance of their new coach, De Zerbi, Brighton made history by
qualifying for European competition for the first time. Building upon this
achievement, they have continued to make significant player sales, accumulating
a total transfer fee of an astonishing £394 million. What’s remarkable is that
despite parting with many of their star players, Brighton have managed to
maintain a strong performance in the Premier League. Even more noteworthy, they
retain promising talents such as Kaoru Mitoma, Julio Cesar Enciso, and Evan
Ferguson in their squad. Currently, Brighton occupy the seventh position in the
Premier League standings, boasting a record of five wins, one draw, and three
losses. Furthermore, they have scored a total of 22 goals in the league,
ranking third in terms of attacking power in the Premier League.

Ajax have
undeniably been one of the most disappointing teams this season. In the
Eredivisie last weekend, Ajax suffered a 3-4 defeat in an away game against FC
Utrecht. Their performance in the league has been far from impressive, with
just one win, two draws, and four losses recorded so far. This represents the
poorest start for the former Eredivisie powerhouse in 37 years. In response to
these underwhelming results, head coach Maurice Steijn resigned, and assistant
coach Heidwigs Maduro has taken on the role of interim head coach. It’s
important to note that Ajax are currently heavily reliant on less prominent
players like Josip Sutalo, Mannsverk, Carlos Borges, and Georges Mikautadze. At
this point, it remains uncertain what the true lower limit of Ajax might be for
this season.
Today’s Ajax
are experiencing a challenging period and have encountered setbacks in their
performance. Their overall strength might not be at the same level as they were
in the past. In contrast, Brighton, while having faced recent form
fluctuations, appear to have a stronger overall team performance. Given the
advantage of playing at home, Brighton seem to be the favoured team in this
campaign.
