[Saba Sports News] Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir, before the Indo-Pak World Cup 2023 match, appealed to the fans not to misbehave with the visiting team, Pakistan. India is playing against Pakistan on Saturday at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Before the match took place, Gambhir, on air, requested Indian fans to show respect to the Pakistan team, who are playing for the first time at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The 42-year-old Gambhir, on Star Sports, clearly delivered a message to support Team India without disrespecting the visitors.
“Support your team but don’t misbehave with your visitors, after all, they are your guests. We have to remember they are the visitors and here to play the World Cup,” Gambhir said while speaking to Star Sports.
Notably, at the time of the toss, the coin landed in the favour of the Indian side, and captain Rohit Sharma chose to bowl first. However, Pakistani skipper Babar Azam faced a lot of boos from the Indian crowd as soon as he spoke on the mic during the toss.
The match marked the eighth encounter between the neighbors in ODI World Cup history. Team India has been dominant since the 1992 World Cup, as the Men in Blue have never lost a World Cup game against Pakistan. They kept their record intact on Saturday by claiming an seven-wicket win.
