[Saba Sports News] The Cricket Advisory Committee, comprising Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra, and Jatin Paranjape, conducted interviews for the Indian women’s team’s Head Coach position. After careful deliberation, the committee unanimously recommended Amol Muzumdar for the role.
The BCCI confirmed Muzumdar’s appointment on October 25, ending a 10-month vacancy following Ramesh Powar’s removal due to restructuring.
A domestic cricket stalwart, Muzumdar scored over 11,000 first-class runs in 171 matches, including 30 centuries, during his impressive 21-year career. He also featured in over 100 List A games and 14 T20 matches, winning numerous Ranji Trophy titles with Mumbai and later representing Assam and Andhra Pradesh.
Roger Binny, BCCI President, welcomed Muzumdar’s appointment, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the Indian Women’s Cricket Team to success in various formats.
Jay Shah, BCCI Honorary Secretary, thanked the CAC for their selection process and congratulated Muzumdar on his appointment. He emphasized the board’s commitment to women’s cricket and pledged support for Muzumdar in helping the players reach their full potential.
Muzumdar expressed deep honor and privilege at being appointed as the Head Coach, outlining his vision and determination to prepare and guide the team to excel, especially with two World Cups scheduled in the next two years.
