[Saba Sports News] Ashutosh Sharma shattered Yuvraj Singh’s record for the fastest fifty by an Indian player during a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match between Railways and Arunachal Pradesh in Ranchi. Ashutosh achieved the milestone in just 11 balls when Railways was at 131 for 4 with only five overs left.
Ashutosh’s explosive innings included 53 runs off 12 balls, featuring one boundary and eight sixes. His remarkable strike rate of 441.66 left a lasting impression. Four of his sixes soared over the covers and long-off, while two cleared long-on, and two more found the leg-side boundary behind square. Railways finished at an imposing 246 for 5, with 115 runs scored in the final five overs.
The 25-year-old was playing his 10th T20 game, having made his debut for Madhya Pradesh in 2018. He has limited experience in 50-over matches and hasn’t played a first-class game.
Yuvraj Singh held the record for the fastest fifty in T20 cricket for 16 years until Dipendra Singh Airee from Nepal broke it last month. Yuvraj famously scored a half-century in 12 balls against England in the inaugural Men’s T20 World Cup in 2007. His six sixes off Stuart Broad in Durban also remain iconic moments in T20 history.
