[Saba Sports News] Barcelona have expressed their
intention to persist with salary cuts, as reported by Spanish media. The club’s
target is to reduce wages for players who have joined within the past year or
two, including Andreas Christensen, Rafinha, and Ilkay Gundogan. Aware of La
Liga’s financial fair play regulations, Barcelona understand the need to make
adjustments to salary expenses. They aim to bring down the average annual
player salaries to a range of 4 to 5 million euros. Reports suggest that
Barcelona are specifically focused on the contracts of Christensen, Rafinha,
and Gundogan, aiming to reduce their wages to around 5 million euros after tax.
However, Barcelona intend to reduce the salaries of only four to five players,
and not more. It should be noted that Gundogan joined Barcelona as a free agent
during the summer, signing a 2+1 contract with an annual salary of 9 million
euros before taxes. This signing could be considered a luxury acquisition for
Barcelona.
