[Saba Sports News] India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey opined on the team’s playing XI for the clash against Bangladesh, stating that they would want to carry the momentum by making no changes.
Although India’s XI for the match versus Bangladesh is not confirmed, there was a thinking in the cricket fraternity that the team might want to give rest to one of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, who have played three games on the trot, and instead go with Mohammad Shami, who is yet to make an appearance in the ODI World Cup 2023.
However, Mhambrey dispelled this thought, saying that there is no plan to rotate the bowlers. He mentioned that India would want to maintain the momentum they have gained by winning all of their three matches in the tournament so far.
“It is important to maintain the start. As of now, there is no
discussion of a kind of rotation. It is important to carry this momentum
for the next game,” Mhambrey said as quoted to the media on the eve of the Bangladesh tie.
Further, when asked about Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin, who are sitting on the sidelines, waiting for their opportunity to play, Mhambrey informed that the playing XI is formed, considering the pitch.
Notably, Ashwin was in India’s starting XI for the World Cup and featured in the game against Australia in Chennai. But he was replaced with Shardul Thakur as the Men in Blue thereafter played their matches on batting-friendly wickets of Delhi and Ahmedabad.
“We pick a squad we feel is the best for that wicket. Sometimes Shami will miss out, someone like Ash (Ashwin) will miss out,” he added.
The Rohit Sharma-led side will meet Bangladesh on October 19 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.
