[Saba Sports News] The recent gambling case involving
Serie A stars has created a significant stir in Italy. Italian footballer
Sandro Tonali, who recently transferred from AC Milan to Newcastle United in
the Premier League, has also been implicated in this case. According to Italian
media reports, Tonali has engaged the services of a lawyer and intends to
surrender to the relevant Italian authorities, indicating his acknowledgment of
involvement in illegal betting. In accordance with the applicable regulations,
Tonali’s voluntary surrender and confession may result in a reduction of his
punishment and sentence by up to half. Consequently, in the best-case scenario,
Tonali, who was initially facing a 16-month suspension, could potentially be
suspended for eight months.
