Regarding Pakistan’s overall performance in the ODI World Cup 2023, the team has played three matches in the tournament, suffering only one defeat. Led by Babar Azam, Pakistan initially defeated the Netherlands and Sri Lanka in their opening two games of the competition.
However, their encounter with arch-rivals India in the twelfth match of the World Cup resulted in their first loss. In the match, Pakistan’s top order, featuring Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, performed well by establishing a solid partnership.
However, after their dismissals, the middle order struggled, leading to a meager total of 191 runs. In their attempt to defend the target, Pakistan’s bowling attack faced the dominance of Rohit Sharma, with Shaheen Afridi being the leading wicket-taker, claiming two wickets.
Nonetheless, India’s batsmen proved to be formidable opponents, resulting in India’s seven-wicket victory and handing Pakistan their first loss in the tournament.
