[Saba Sports News] Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s leadership is setting new standards, as former Indian seamer Dhawal Kulkarni shared his insights about playing under him.
While Kulkarni didn’t have much experience playing under MS Dhoni, he thrived under Rohit’s guidance. Kulkarni praised Rohit for fostering an inclusive team environment, where every player, from star batter to newcomer, feels valued.
Kulkarni revealed, “I didn’t get to play much under Mahi Bhai, but I played a lot under Rohit. And a captain like Rohit is necessary. It feels good to play under him. Whether it’s a bowler or a batsman, whether it’s the first player in the team or the 16th player, or the last person in the management, he listens to them too.”
He added that Rohit’s leadership encourages open communication, creating a culture where players can freely express their thoughts. “Everyone likes to go to him and talk to him because he’s so welcoming. He gives importance to every team player. He listens to everyone.”
Kulkarni also highlighted the confidence Rohit instills in his players. Under his leadership, players are given multiple chances to prove themselves.
“Every player gets at least 7, 8, or 10 chances to prove themselves, all thanks to Rohit,” Kulkarni said. He noted that Rohit understands how much domestic cricket and IPL experience players have, and thus offers them plenty of opportunities on the international stage.
Speaking of Rohit’s achievements, Kulkarni commended him for becoming the third Indian captain to win a World Cup, but emphasized that Rohit’s legacy goes beyond just titles. “Rohit has set that trend. It’s a very good thing for Rohit. He’s already won the World Cup. He’s the third Indian captain who has won the World Cup. So, it’s a very big thing,” Kulkarni concluded.
