[Saba Sports News] “World Sports News” has
reported that the European Union intends to implement a ban on the construction
of rubber artificial turf from 2031, aiming to mitigate pollution. Research
studies have indicated that rubber is one of the major contributors to the
emission of pollutant particles into the atmosphere, thereby significantly
impacting climate change. Currently, several companies are already exploring
alternative materials for artificial turf. A Spanish company has developed a
reusable elastic plastic base that has a lifespan of up to 30 years. Some
experts have suggested that this ban will pose challenges in maintaining rubber
artificial turf, and accordingly, UEFA should consider providing appropriate
subsidies to small and medium-sized European clubs.
