[Saba Sports News] The Premier League announced that
the 18th round match between Wolves and Chelsea, initially set for December 23,
will now take place on Christmas Eve. The decision to reschedule the game was
made to accommodate television broadcast requirements. This marks the first
Premier League match scheduled for Christmas Eve since 1995. However, fans have
expressed their dissatisfaction with this change, stating that their opinions
were not considered, and they believe there was a lack of respect for the fans.
The fan group argues that holiday fixtures pose challenges for those attending
the games. The British Football Supporters Association (FSA) published an
article titled “A Huge Blow,” strongly criticising the broadcasters’
pursuit of profit without consulting the fans.
