[Saba Sports News] Australia and New Zealand clashed in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Match 27 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala. Australia, batting first, scored 388 all out in 49.2 overs, highlighted by Travis Head’s remarkable hundred on his return.
Glenn Maxwell, too, played a rapid innings of 41 from 24 balls, featuring five fours and two sixes. His aggressive batting left spectators awestruck, especially one shot where he sent Mitchell Santner’s delivery soaring onto the stadium’s roof.
In the 43rd over, Maxwell, facing a flighted delivery outside off stump, advanced down the track and launched it over the bowler’s head for a colossal six that landed on the roof. This monstrous shot traveled an impressive 104 meters, making it the longest six of the tournament.
Australia’s innings began explosively with openers David Warner and Travis Head amassing a massive 175-run partnership off just 115 balls. Warner, in sensational form, missed out on a third consecutive hundred in the tournament, scoring 81 off 65 balls. On the other hand, Head marked his comeback to the Australian team after injury with a scintillating hundred, the fastest on World Cup debut, reaching the milestone in just 59 balls and ultimately scoring 109 off 67 balls, including ten fours and seven sixes.
Following Head’s dismissal, contributions from Josh Inglis (38 off 28) and Pat Cummins (37 off 14) boosted Australia’s total to 388 during the death overs. Glenn Phillips was New Zealand’s standout bowler, taking 3/37 in ten overs, while Trent Boult also claimed three wickets (3/77) in his ten-over spell.
