[Saba Sports News] Indian Cricket Great Munaf Patel Playfully Teases Ex-Pakistan Fast Bowler Shoaib Akhtar Over Social Media Post Featuring Sachin Tendulkar. Akhtar shared the post on the eve of the much-anticipated ODI World Cup clash between India and Pakistan at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on October 14.
Akhtar posted a snapshot from an Asian Test Championship match where he dismissed Indian batsmen Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar consecutively in the first innings.
Notably, Pakistan won the game by 46 runs, largely thanks to Saeed Anwar’s impressive 188-run performance in the second innings. In the photo Akhtar shared, he is seen dismissing Tendulkar, and his caption reads, ‘Kal agar aisa kuch karna hai, toh #ThandRakh,’ which translates to ‘Keep calm if you want to do something similar tomorrow.’
However, fans weren’t thrilled with the post, and Munaf Patel entered the conversation with a fitting reply. The former Indian fast bowler posted an image of Tendulkar executing his famous uppercut against Akhtar during the 2003 World Cup match between the archrivals, resulting in a six.
Tendulkar looked confident as ever, while Akhtar appeared visibly helpless with his hands on his head after conceding the boundary.
Patel’s caption humorously quipped, ‘Should I remind you?’. Additionally, the 2003 World Cup encounter between India and Pakistan took place at Centurion, with Tendulkar delivering an exceptional 98-run innings off just 75 balls.
His match-winning performance helped India chase down the challenging target of 275 runs in a mere 45.4 overs. Meanwhile, the much-anticipated India-Pakistan match commenced in Ahmedabad.
This marked the first meeting between the two teams in India since 2016. As for the game itself, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to field, inviting Pakistan to bat first.
