[Saba Sports News] The impact of the Italian football
star gambling case is expanding. Today, “La Repubblica” reported that
the ongoing investigation by the prosecutors is focusing on the possibility of
match-fixing through cross-betting. In simple terms, this refers to players
reaching agreements with each other, where one bets on the team the other plays
for, and vice versa. They then assist each other in their respective matches by
fulfilling the betting requirements, such as receiving cards or intentionally
losing possession. The mobile phones and tablets of the implicated players have
been seized for investigation. If cross-betting is established, the players
involved will face more severe penalties.
