[Saba Sports News] Yashasvi Jaiswal had a brilliant start to his Test career, including a standout 712-run series against England at home, which propelled him into the ICC Test rankings top 10.
However, his form has been inconsistent since, with a quiet IPL season despite scoring a century, followed by being benched during the T20 World Cup. On Sunday, just two days before the Test series against Bangladesh, Jaiswal’s performance in training left the Indian camp concerned.
According to the Indian Express, while Jasprit Bumrah bowled him out, the bigger worry was Jaiswal’s overall struggle against pace, not just from Bumrah but also Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, and net bowler Yudhvir Singh. Virat Kohli, watching from the sidelines, had a quick chat with Jaiswal after Bumrah dismissed him, but the young batter continued to face difficulties.
Later, head coach Gautam Gambhir stepped in, taking Jaiswal for a 20-minute nets session focused on his technique, particularly getting behind the line of the ball.
Despite the challenges against pace, Jaiswal showed no issues handling spin, a key focus for India in the Bangladesh series, as he was seen hitting big shots against spinners during Monday’s practice session.
With a long Test season ahead, including the highly anticipated series against Australia, Jaiswal’s form will be closely watched, especially after his attacking display against England caught the attention of Nathan Lyon and Pat Cummins.
