[Saba Sports News] On Sunday, Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter humorously claimed that he had taken a page from LeBron James’ playbook during their game against the Miami Dolphins. Carter’s reference to LeBron had nothing to do with the NBA MVP’s basketball skills.
During the second quarter of the Eagles-Dolphins matchup at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, Carter executed what some are calling the most exaggerated flop of the NFL season.
The incident occurred when Carter became entangled with Miami offensive lineman Austin Jackson following a Dolphins run play. Even after the play had ended, Carter continued to push Jackson, who responded by lightly smacking Carter’s helmet with his left hand. To the surprise of many, the 315-pound Eagles rookie dramatically fell to the ground after this minimal contact.
Both Jackson and Carter received offsetting personal fouls following the skirmish. After the Eagles’ 31-17 victory over the Dolphins, reporters asked Carter about his theatrics. Carter, with a grin, admitted to drawing inspiration from LeBron James. He said, ‘I was just thinking about LeBron! I was like, “Oh, what would LeBron do?”‘
LeBron James, often hailed as the greatest player of his generation, has also earned a reputation as a flopper throughout his basketball career. The NBA has even cautioned James in the past for excessive flopping.
Considering LeBron James’ passion for the NFL, it’s likely that Carter’s playful jab will reach the Lakers star sooner rather than later.
