[Saba Sports News] James Harden was absent from Wednesday’s training camp practice with the Philadelphia 76ers and may face disciplinary measures.
Harden hasn’t been with the team since Sunday and has participated in only one scrimmage in the last two weeks. According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Harden didn’t provide prior notice to the team about his absence on Wednesday.
The Sixers intend to offer Harden an opportunity to explain his absence before deciding on potential disciplinary actions, likely involving fines. As ESPN’s Bobby Marks pointed out, Harden could incur a $389,082 fine for each preseason and regular season game he misses without permission, along with a minimum fine of $2,500 for each missed practice.
Harden addressed the media during training camp last week, stating that there’s no chance of repairing his relationship with the 76ers, although he indicated his intention to continue playing basketball even if not traded.
Reports suggest that the 76ers have engaged in discussions with another team regarding a potential trade for Harden. However, their asking price for the 34-year-old player is believed to be too high, and President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey doesn’t appear to be in a rush to fulfill Harden’s trade request.
