[Saba Sports News] Jasprit Bumrah showcased his match-winning abilities in the T20 World Cup 2024, earning the Player of the Tournament award. Days after India’s title win, journalist and childhood neighbor Deepal Trivedi shared heart-wrenching stories from Bumrah’s early days. As these stories gained attention on social media, Bumrah opened up about his past.
The right-arm pacer revealed that life changed drastically when his father passed away while he was in second grade.
Trivedi had previously shared that young Bumrah and his sister Juhika came under her care while their mother worked tirelessly. The family faced financial struggles, with even biscuits being a luxury. Bumrah focused on the broader issues, mentioning their financial difficulties.
“My father passed away when I was in second grade and my sister in fourth grade. We became really close as a family because life suddenly changed. We had financial issues, so my mother started working,” Bumrah told The Times of India. “We went through a lot of ups and downs, which made our bond stronger over the years.”
Trivedi also mentioned how Bumrah desperately needed a windcheater, and she provided one by sacrificing her own needs.
Bumrah’s mother, Daljit, worked over 16 hours a day to support her children. Juhika, who now works in the makeup industry, takes care of Bumrah’s appearance during shoots. Despite their success, Bumrah emphasized the importance of staying grounded.
“We, as a family, are very close. We discuss good days and bad days. We don’t want to change ourselves too much because we’ve seen both ups and downs,” Bumrah concluded.
