[Saba Sports News] Los Angeles Lakers enthusiasts who were anxiously awaiting news on Anthony Davis after his recent injury scare can now breathe easier.
During Sunday’s match against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Davis had to leave the game after participating for only 12 minutes at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. He was able to secure a lead for the Lakers with a dynamic putback dunk, making the score 35-30 in the final 25 seconds of the first quarter. However, an accidental contact from Timberwolves forward Kyle Anderson during the dunk reaggravated Davis’ previous injury to his left eye, though no penalty was called at the moment. Subsequently, Davis did not return to the game.
Fortunately, the eye injury doesn’t seem to be severe, and there’s growing confidence that Davis might be ready to play in the upcoming game against the Golden State Warriors. Last month, a corneal abrasion was inflicted on Davis during a game against the Warriors, about which he disclosed disturbing details. Despite the severe nature of that injury, Davis didn’t sit out any games then.
This season, Davis has participated in 74 games, with only three more scheduled — just one game short of his all-time highest participation in a season. Despite several minor injuries over the season, Davis has been determined to overcome the stigma of being injury-prone, playing through most issues. Although he may not have fully achieved the ambitious goals he set for this season, Davis has arguably exceeded many of his detractors’ expectations.
