consulting company Sports Value, Major League Soccer (MLS) in the 2022-23
season has closely followed the commercial revenue of the five major European
leagues and is ranked sixth after Serie A. Sports Value calculates commercial
revenue by considering various factors such as jersey sponsorship, stadium side
advertising revenue, and revenue generated from stadium activities. Premier
League holds the top spot with a commercial revenue of 1.79 billion euros,
followed by the Bundesliga with 1.42 billion euros, La Liga with 970 million
euros, Ligue 1 with 836 million euros, and Serie A with 811 million euros. In
the sixth position, MLS, which made headlines with the acquisition of Lionel
Messi by Inter Miami, reported commercial revenue of 642 million euros for the
2022-23 season.
