[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports,
Newcastle United’s home stadium, St. James’ Park, is planning to undergo
expansion. Newcastle United have commissioned a proposal to relocate a Grade I
building near the stadium in order to facilitate the expansion of St. James’
Park to accommodate 65,000 seats. The report, which is expected to be published
next year, will assess the cost and feasibility of the expansion proposal put
forth by the construction firm Leazes Terrace. The plan involves expanding the
east stand of St. James’ Park. However, it is anticipated that there may be
opposition from heritage groups due to the historical significance of the Grade
I building. The owners of Newcastle United, PIF, are keen on expanding their
home ground but might face limitations due to lighting restrictions related to
nearby structures.
