[Saba Sports News] Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets dominated the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday, and the Serbian star had some advice for rookie Chet Holmgren after the game.
Jokic led the Nuggets with 28 points and 14 rebounds in their 128-95 victory over the Thunder at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Despite Holmgren’s impressive 7-block performance just two days earlier, he couldn’t manage a single block against the Nuggets, and Jokic had a relatively easy time against him.
During the postgame press conference, Jokic commented on Holmgren’s potential but also offered some guidance. He said, ‘He’s a highly talented player, but it’s his rookie year, and he’s still learning the ropes. I believe he needs more experience, and to be honest, he could benefit from gaining some weight.’
Jokic, the second-heaviest player in the NBA after Jusuf Nurkic, weighs 284 pounds, and he used his weight advantage effectively against the slender Holmgren, who stands at 7’1″ but weighs just 195 pounds. Despite his thin frame, Holmgren managed to score 19 points, leading all scorers for OKC. Nevertheless, Jokic believes that adding some bulk would be beneficial for the young Thunder player.
