[Saba Sports News] Pakistan’s Test captain Shan Masood had a day to forget in the second Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. After being put in to bat first, Pakistan managed 274 runs in their first innings.
Khurram Shahzad’s stellar bowling, supported by Mir Hamza, initially put Bangladesh in deep trouble at 26/6. However, a lackluster bowling effort, uninspired captaincy, and sloppy fielding allowed Bangladesh to recover and post 262 runs.
Litton Das delivered a masterclass, scoring 138, while Mehidy Hasan continued his impressive all-round performance with 78 runs. Khurram Shahzad finished with figures of 6/90, while Hamza and Salman Ali Agha each claimed two wickets.
In Pakistan’s second innings, they faltered to 9/2 by stumps on day three, losing Abdullah Shafique and nightwatchman Khurram Shahzad.
Despite the on-field struggles, attention turned to Pakistan’s poor fielding. It started with Saud Shakeel dropping a straightforward catch in the slips and culminated with Shan Masood’s costly mistake.
In the 75th over of Bangladesh’s innings, Khurram Shahzad induced a false shot from Khaled Mahmud, but Masood, positioned at short cover, let the ball slip through his hands in a lazy attempt.
Abrar Ahmed and Saim Ayub were visibly frustrated by the captain’s lack of effort, expressing their displeasure on the field. With Bangladesh making a strong comeback, netizens on social media trolled Shan Masood heavily for the dropped catch on X.
