[Saba Sports News] Jitesh Sharma, the Amravati-born wicketkeeper-batter for Punjab Kings since 2022, recently announced his engagement to Shalaka Makeshwar on August 9 via Instagram.
Shalaka, a Nagpur native working in the IT sector, was featured in the heartwarming post, where the couple was seen sharing a tender moment with floral garlands and bouquets.
Although the post was made on August 9, the caption revealed that the engagement took place the day before.
The announcement attracted significant attention, with well-wishes pouring in from friends and teammates, including Arshdeep Singh, Suryakumar Yadav, Avesh Khan, and Washington Sundar. While the wedding date remains undisclosed, this engagement marks a new chapter in Sharma’s life, filled with optimism and new beginnings.
On the cricket front, Sharma last played for PBKS in the 2024 IPL, scoring 187 runs in 12 innings. After making an impact post-2023 Cricket World Cup, he was selected for T20I series against Australia, South Africa, and Afghanistan, sparking debates over his selection over established wicketkeepers like Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson.
However, a decline in form saw him miss out on the 2024 T20 World Cup squad. Sharma now looks to revive his career and secure a place in the Indian team, with hopes of being retained by PBKS in the upcoming IPL mega auction.
