[Saba Sports News] In the World Cup 2023 match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, Virat Kohli stole the limelight by showing the sign of an ‘imaginary’ watch on his wrist while fielding.
The incident took place in the 13th over of the first innings when Hardik Pandya dismissed Imam-ul-Haq at a score of 36, and Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan entered the crease.
Rizwan before facing his first ball of the match was seen wasting time by pausing to observe the field placements, making adjustments to his pads, and frequently readjusting his glove straps.
Due to the time-wasting act pulled by Rizwan, Kohli was seen furious and tiresome. While Rizwan was doing all this, Kohli drew the attention of the cameraman.
Kohli was observed glancing at an imaginary watch on his wrist, indicating to the umpires that Rizwan was intentionally delaying the game
However, after the long delay caused by Rizwan, the match resumed. Rizwan was out after making a weary 49 runs off 69 balls, including seven fours. India pacer Jasprit Bumrah cleaned him up by delivering a slower off-cutter.
Pakistan were bowled out for a score of 191 in just 42.5 overs. All the Indian bowlers, except Shardul Thakur, ended up taking 2 wickets. Pakistan captain Babar Azam was the top-scorer from his side, accumulating 50 runs off 58 balls.
India cake walked through the run-chase as Rohit Sharma starred in the second innings with his 63-ball 86. India won their third consecutive match in the 2023 World Cup by seven wickets.
