[Saba Sports News] Multiple English media outlets have
recently reported that a Qatari consortium has withdrawn from the acquisition
of Manchester United, effectively terminating the 11-month-long acquisition
process. It is stated that the Glazer family, the current owners of Manchester
United, rejected the Qatari consortium’s offer of $7 billion for a complete
acquisition. Despite multiple increases in their offer, the Qatari consortium
expressed disappointment and announced their decision to abandon the idea of
entering the Premier League. This development presents a favourable opportunity
for James Ratcliffe, the wealthiest individual in Britain, as the Glazer family
prefers to sell only a portion of their shares rather than the entire club.
Ratcliffe’s intention has never been to fully acquire Manchester United, but
rather to acquire a portion of the club’s shares and take over the operational
rights of Manchester United’s football activities. The Glazer family is
reportedly willing to accept this arrangement.
