[Saba Sports News] India captain Rohit Sharma has climbed five spots and is now currently placed sixth in the ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings. This is the first time in ODIs that Rohit has surpassed the ranking of his teammate Virat Kohli.
Kohli is at ninth in the rankings with 711 points, while Rohit has accumulated 719 points. Rohit has been in tremendous form lately, scoring 504 runs in his last 10 ODI innings, during which he has smashed five fifties and one century.
He recently scored a hundred against Afghanistan in Delhi and a half-century against Pakistan in Ahmedabad in the World Cup 2023. Overall, Rohit has accumulated 875 ODI runs in 2023 in 18 innings with an average of 54.69.
In the updated ICC rankings, South Africa opener Quinton de Kock, with back-to-back tons in the ongoing World Cup, has jumped three spots in the rankings and is now placed at number three, just above his compatriot Rassie van der Dussen.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam is topping the charts with 836 points, and is followed by India opener Shubman Gill, who has 818 points currently.
New Zealand pacer Trent Boult has overtaken India fast-bowler Mohammed Siraj in the bowling rankings for ODIs. Boult is now holding the second position with 659 points. He is closely competing with Australia’s Josh Hazlewood, who has 660 points and is the numero uno ODI bowler.
