[Saba Sports News] Trivandrum-born cricketer Sanju Samson recently attended a press conference for the launch of the Kerala Cricket League, organized by the Kerala Cricket Association.
Invited as an honorary member and chief guest, Samson faced various questions, including one about his omission from the ODI squad despite scoring 108 runs in his last match for India against South Africa.
When asked about being overlooked for the ODI series against Sri Lanka, Samson responded calmly, reflecting his on-field composure. Speaking in Malayalam, he emphasized that his focus is on performing consistently whenever selected and supporting the team’s success.
He added that he believes in a higher purpose and stays positive, controlling what he can and putting in his best efforts.
Samson said, “I will just go and play whenever they select me. That’s it! At the end of the day, our team is doing well, and that’s enough for me.”
Despite his impressive performance, including his maiden ODI century in a match that India won by 78 runs, the selectors chose Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul over Samson for the Sri Lanka tour.
