He surpassed Australia’s Mitchell Starc, who took 52 matches to accomplish the same milestone, with Tanzid Hasan of Bangladesh being Afridi’s 100th wicket.
Furthermore, during the ICC World Cup 2023 league clash at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, Shaheen Shah Afridi also became the quickest Pakistani bowler to claim 100 ODI wickets, surpassing Saqlain Mushtaq’s record of 53 matches. It’s worth noting that India’s Mohammed Shami holds the title of India’s fastest to 100 ODI wickets, achieving it in just 56 matches.
Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichchane and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan stand out in international cricket as the only bowlers to secure 100 ODI wickets in fewer than 50 matches, with Lamichchane achieving the feat in 42 matches and Rashid Khan in 44 matches.
Shaheen Afridi has been a prominent bowler since his debut, with an impressive record of 105 Test wickets in 46 innings and 64 wickets in T20 internationals.
