[Saba Sports News] This week, a book titled “The
World’s Biggest Cash Machine: Manchester United, the Glazer Family, and the
Struggling Soul of Football” was published, providing a comprehensive
account of the Glazer family’s tenure at Manchester United. The book delves
into the strategies implemented by the board of directors to maximise the
club’s profits following the Glazer family’s acquisition of the team in 2005.
Interestingly, it is revealed that there was a proposal to allow fans to attend
games for free by opening some of the stands. However, certain executives
expressed concerns that this initiative might diminish the enthusiasm for
purchasing full-price tickets. After careful consideration of the advantages
and disadvantages, the idea was ultimately abandoned.
