[Saba Sports News] India are all set to face Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup on 14th October in Ahmedabad. The previous seven results have been in India’s favour, as the Men in Green have not won a single match in the 50-over World Cup against this year’s hosts.
The Men in Blue will look to keep that record intact by winning the game against the Babar Azam-led side, and that too in the world’s largest cricket stadium.
The maestro of batting, especially in white-ball cricket, and former Indian captain, Virat Kohli, recalled the Indo-Pak T20 World Cup match played in Melbourne in 2022, in which the chase master pulled off a thriller from the jaws of defeat.
“The lead-up to games like this is what makes it so special. The buzz in the hotel. The buzz in Melbourne in general and outside the stadium was amazing, and the moment I stepped onto the field, I felt that energy in the stadium,” Kohli said while speaking in an video released by the ICC.
Kohli scored an unbeaten 82 off 53 balls in that nail-biter of a match while chasing 160 runs against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
The India head coach Rahul Dravid expressed his excitement to witness and experience the highly anticipated clash between the two giant teams.
“It is going to be great to just experience that environment, experience the atmosphere that is going to be there at an India-Pakistan game in India, in Ahmedabad. The game is probably one of the most incredible environments that I have been privileged to be a part of,” said Dravid.
India are coming with a lot of confidence as they have won both of their games against Australia and Afghanistan and are currently placed third on the points table. Meanwhile, Pakistan are also undefeated and are firmly behind India on the points table, sitting at number four position.
