[Saba Sports News] A few days ago, FIFA officially
confirmed that the Italian Football Federation’s request for a 10-month ban on
Sandro Tonali would be extended worldwide. Tonali had previously been handed a
10-month suspension by the Italian Football Association on October 26 for his
involvement in football betting. During this ban, Tonali is required to undergo
treatment for gambling addiction and attend a minimum of 16 in-person counselling
sessions. Consequently, Tonali’s last official match for the next 10 months was
Newcastle’s home defeat against Dortmund on October 25. Previously, Newcastle
coach Eddie Howe had indicated that Tonali could play against Wolves, but this
ban has now rendered that possibility obsolete.
