[Saba Sports News] The Indian cricket team suffered a setback with the ruling out of their star all-rounder Hardik Pandya from the remaining matches of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Saturday. Pandya sustained an ankle injury during the World Cup 2023 fixture against Bangladesh in Pune on October 19.
India had hoped that the all-rounder might recover in time for the latter stage of the tournament, but Pandya failed to do so, resulting in his absence for the remainder of the marquee event.
The 30-year-old expressed his disappointment after being ruled out of the competition. Pandya took to his ‘X’ account, where he mentioned that it is tough to accept this setback. He also acknowledged the love he received from fans and supporters and extended his best wishes to Team India for the rest of the World Cup.
“Tough to digest the fact that I will miss out on the remaining part of the World Cup. I’ll be with the team, in spirit, cheering them on every ball of every game. Thanks for all the wishes, the love, and the support has been incredible. This team is special and I’m sure we’ll make everyone proud. Love, always, HP,” Pandya tweeted.
Pandya played only four matches in the World Cup 2023 and he took five wickets and scored a total of 11 runs
Pacer Prasidh Krishna has replaced Pandya in the 15-member squad of India and has received approval from the Event Technical Committee of the ICC World Cup 2023. Prasidh will now be available for selection in the playing XI for the remaining matches.
