[Saba Sports News] During the offseason, the Miami Heat explored trade possibilities involving Damian Lillard, Bradley Beal, and Jrue Holiday, aiming to strengthen their roster after reaching the NBA Finals in the previous season. However, they were unable to secure these targets and opted to retain a similar roster with minor additions.
Tyler Herro’s name had been circulating in trade rumors for the Heat, but when it came to Bradley Beal, the team reportedly favored keeping Herro instead. Zach Lowe of ESPN revealed, “The Heat looked at that situation and said, ‘We don’t think Bradley Beal, who’s seven years older than Tyler Herro, is $30 million better than Tyler Herro going forward. We just don’t think the upgrade is worth it.'”
Ultimately, Bradley Beal was acquired by the Phoenix Suns in a trade. Herro is under contract with the Heat until the 2026-27 season, earning $33 million, while Beal will be paid approximately $57 million in that same season with the Suns.
In the previous season, Herro averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists with shooting percentages of 43.9% from the field, 37.8% from beyond the arc, and 93.4% from the free-throw line. In comparison, Beal averaged 23.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists with shooting percentages of 50.6% from the field, 36.5% from 3-point range, and 84.2% from the free-throw line.
