[Saba Sports News] In the 12th match of ODI World Cup 2023 between India and Pakistan, a unique incident involving Virat Kohli occurred. Kohli was seen wearing a different jersey from his teammates, featuring three white stripes on the shoulder instead of the tri-colour design. This caught the attention of fans and media, leading to viral pictures online.
Realizing the mistake, Kohli promptly left the field to correct it. He changed into the correct jersey with the tri-colour pattern and returned to resume play.
Regarding the match, India chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Pakistan had a cautious start, with Imam-ul-Haq hitting Mohammad Siraj for three boundaries in the first over. However, the Indian bowlers tightened their grip on the game afterward. Pakistan scored only five runs from Jasprit Bumrah’s three overs, as they played cautiously against him. After ten overs, Pakistan’s score was 49/1.
Despite being expensive, Siraj provided India’s first breakthrough by dismissing Abdullah Shafique. Shafique was trapped plumb in front by a cross-seam delivery and did not use a review, walking back to the pavilion with Pakistan at 41/1.
Indian fans received good news when the team sheet revealed that young star batter Shubman Gill was set to play in the match. Gill’s impressive record at this venue makes him a significant threat to any opposition, and he will be a key player in India’s chase.
Notably, Pakistan has never beaten India in the ODI World Cup, with the record at 7-0 in India’s favor. Including T20 World Cups, the record extends to 13-1 in India’s favor. Pakistan aims to change this record and is boosted by their recent successful run chase against Sri Lanka, where they chased down a target of nearly 350 runs in Hyderabad.
However, India is also riding high on confidence after victories against Australia and Afghanistan in the tournament.
