[Saba Sports News] On Friday night, the Golden State Warriors made roster cuts, which included a former star player from the Memphis Grizzlies.
The team officially announced the release of Rudy Gay and Rodney McGruder, reducing their roster to 16 players. Golden State’s plan appears to be starting the season with 13 players on standard contracts. Out of the 16 players on the Warriors’ roster, Jerome Robinson, Usman Garuba, and Lester Quiñones are under two-way contracts. Rudy Gay, who celebrated his 37th birthday in August, had hoped to secure a spot on the Golden State roster for his 18th NBA season.
He posted an average of just 5.2 points in 14.6 minutes per game while playing for the Utah Jazz last season. Despite having averaged over 20 points per game on four occasions in his career, those high-scoring days seem to be in the past for Gay.
