[Saba Sports News] In a captivating moment during their WBBL clash at North Sydney Oval, Brisbane Heat’s opener Grace Harris displayed her remarkable skill by hitting a six with a broken bat against the Perth Scorchers. This extraordinary event occurred on the second delivery of the 14th over, bowled by Piepa Cleary.
Harris astounded with her ability to predict the outcome before the ball was bowled, jokingly mentioning the need for a new cricket bat due to what seemed like handle damage. However, she confidently asserted that a broken bat wouldn’t stop her from hitting the ball.
Fate played its part when Cleary delivered a fuller-length ball that demanded precision from the bat’s sweet spot. Harris responded in style, smashing the ball for a six, causing her bat to splinter into fragments while the ball sailed over the boundary rope. Cameras captured her holding only the handle, leaving commentators thoroughly entertained.
Harris, the Brisbane Heat opener, delivered an exceptional individual performance in Women’s Big Bash League history. Her unbeaten 136 off just 59 balls, following her omission from the recent T20I series, powered the Heat to a formidable 7-229. This marked the second-highest total in WBBL history. Harris’s innings included 12 fours and a record-breaking 11 sixes, reaching her century in only 48 deliveries.
She became the third player to achieve three WBBL centuries, joining Alyssa Healy and Sophie Devine.
