[Saba Sports News] In the middle of this week,
European competition resumed with West Ham United traveling to Greece to face
Olympiacos. “Daily Mail” has reported that, in light of a serious
security incident that took place during Olympiacos’ recent home game, special
protective measures will be in place for West Ham United fans traveling to
Greece this week. Last week, during a match, fans threw fireworks into the
stadium, inadvertently hitting a visiting team player who was warming up on the
sidelines, resulting in a head injury. The injured player was subsequently
taken to the hospital for treatment, and the game’s second half had to be
temporarily suspended. To prevent further safety incidents, the local police
will provide an escort for West Ham United fans, who will be transported to the
stadium by buses to watch the game. Any visiting team supporters attempting to
access the stadium by other means will be denied entry.
