[Saba Sports News] Doc Rivers faced a chilly reception during his Philadelphia comeback on Sunday evening, yet the ex-76ers coach wasn’t caught off guard. The Wells Fargo Center echoed with boos as the Milwaukee Bucks, Rivers’ new team, were announced, and it seemed those jeers included him, with no discernible cheers at the mention of his name.
Following a commanding 119-98 victory over his previous squad, Rivers humorously noted some “hilarious comments” from 76ers fans but mentioned he didn’t pick up on the boos, interpreting the cold reception as a sign of being “back at home.”
During his three-year stint with the Sixers, starting in 2020 and ending with his dismissal after the last season, Rivers aimed to elevate a struggling team beyond their repeated Eastern Conference semifinals exits.
Now with Milwaukee, Rivers remains intent on pursuing an NBA championship, though he did take a moment to look back on his Philadelphia tenure before the game.
