Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, Real Madrid and Athletic Club
have recently lost their lawsuit against CVC. The two clubs had been opposing
the agreement between La Liga and the CVC Fund, arguing that it violated La
Liga’s charter and infringed upon their rights and interests. They made
multiple attempts to suspend the implementation of the agreement through legal
action but were unsuccessful. On February 27, 2024, the 15th Court of Madrid
issued a judgment dismissing the claims of Real Madrid and Athletic Club. The
court concluded that the agreement between La Liga and the CVC Fund did not
violate La Liga’s charter and did not infringe upon the clubs’ rights. The
court also recognized the autonomy of La Liga, affirming the clubs’ right to
enhance their commercial profits through such agreements. Additionally, the
court ordered Real Madrid and Athletic Club to bear the costs of the case. It
is reported that the clubs have the option to appeal the verdict, although
observers believe that the outcome is unlikely to change.
