[Saba Sports News] Virat Kohli revealed his retirement plans, mentioning he might take a break from the sport before deciding on his next steps. Having made his international debut in 2008, Kohli has become one of the most revered cricketers of his generation.
Currently, Kohli is having a phenomenal season in the IPL 2024, leading the run charts with 661 runs from 13 matches at an average of 66.10 and a strike rate of 155.16. Despite being 35, he remains one of the fittest players in world cricket. His fans, however, are concerned about the day he retires. At RCB’s Royal Gala Dinner, Kohli shared what motivates him and his plans for the future.
“As a sportsman, we have an end-date to our careers. I don’t want to finish with regrets, thinking ‘what if I had done this.’ So, it’s about leaving no unfinished business. Once I’m done, I will be gone; you won’t see me for a while. I want to give everything I have until I stop playing,” Kohli said.
Kohli aims to lead RCB to the IPL playoffs for the fourth time in five seasons. After the IPL, he will represent India in the T20 World Cup 2024, hoping to maintain his excellent form in the tournament hosted by the West Indies and the USA.
