Sports News] According to reports from British media, Chelsea’s wage bill for
the previous season surpassed £400 million, making them the second-highest
spender in the Premier League, trailing only Manchester City. The reports
indicate that Chelsea’s wage expenditure reached an astonishing £404 million,
demonstrating the club’s significant investment in player salaries. Among
Premier League clubs, only Manchester City surpassed Chelsea’s wage bill,
reaching £422.9 million, which includes bonuses for their successful Triple
Crown season. Chelsea became the second club to exceed the £400 million mark in
terms of payroll. It should be noted that this figure includes compensation
paid for the dismissals of coaches Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter during the
same season. Furthermore, Chelsea reported financial losses of £89.8 million
for the season. Notably, the club earned £76.5 million from the sale of a hotel
building to another subsidiary of their parent company. If this revenue is
excluded, Chelsea’s financial losses for the season would be significantly
higher than £89.8 million.
