While practicing pull shots, one of Mitchell’s shots flew over the safety net and hit a spectator who was filming with his phone, damaging it and causing minor injuries. Recognizing the mishap, Mitchell gifted the fan a pair of gloves to brighten his day. The incident was shared on social media, earning Mitchell widespread praise for his thoughtful gesture.
In the subsequent match, Mitchell contributed a crucial 30 off 19 balls to help Chennai post 167/9, with Ravindra Jadeja leading the score with 43 off 26 balls. Punjab responded with 139/9, and Jadeja’s excellent bowling performance of three wickets for 20 runs earned him the Player of the Match.
