[Saba Sports News] 11-year NBA veteran Nate Robinson recently discussed his unresolved issues with Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers on “The OGs” podcast, hosted by Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller.
Robinson recounted an incident where he believes Rivers deliberately cost him $1.5 million by benching him for a crucial game. According to Robinson, his contract included a clause that would award him $1.5 million if he played a specific number of games. However, Rivers assigned him a “DNP” (did not play) status for a game he needed to reach this milestone, leading Robinson to suspect intentional interference.
Robinson, who had been traded from the New York Knicks to the Boston Celtics before the 2010 NBA trade deadline, had an opportunity to meet a 60-game incentive that season. Despite playing the final four games, Rivers’s decision to bench him in his initial three games after joining the Celtics limited his total appearances, preventing him from meeting the contract incentive. As a result, Robinson only played 56 games that season, missing out on the financial bonus.
