[Saba Sports News] Star England batsman Joe Root found himself involved in a peculiar run-out incident during a County Championship match between Yorkshire and Glamorgan.
As Kiran Carlson was on 15 runs from 35 balls, he charged down the pitch for a drive, but the ball struck Joe Root’s left leg at silly point. The ball then rolled to wicketkeeper Jonathan Tattersall, who quickly dislodged the bails, resulting in Carlson’s dismissal. Despite Carlson’s attempt to dive back into his crease, he was too late, making it one of cricket’s most unique dismissals. The video of this incident went viral on social media, with Root’s Yorkshire teammates celebrating the wicket with him.
In the match, Glamorgan batted first and posted 221 runs in their innings. Yorkshire responded strongly with Finlay Bean scoring 173 runs off 189 balls and Joe Root contributing 156 runs off 165 balls, helping Yorkshire reach 519 runs before declaring their innings.
Facing a significant deficit, Glamorgan ended Day 3 at 171 runs for the loss of three wickets. Openers Eddie Byrom and Billy Root scored 30 and 35 runs, respectively, while skipper Sam Northeast remained unbeaten on 46 runs off 119 deliveries, with Colin Ingram contributing 43 runs off 91 balls. Yorkshire’s Dan Moriarty and Dom Bess each took one wicket.
As Day 4 approaches, Glamorgan trails by 127 runs and will aim to reduce the deficit and set a competitive total on the board.
