[Saba Sports News] Lucknow Super Giants assistant coach S Sriram remains optimistic about their playoff prospects in IPL 2024, despite dropping to sixth place following a significant loss to Kolkata Knight Riders. Initially third on the points table, Lucknow’s defeat has intensified their need to win the remaining matches, starting with a challenging game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on their home ground.
Sriram pointed out that while the spinners have struggled throughout the tournament due to batter-friendly pitches, he is pleased with the performances of Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya. He reassured that there are no immediate concerns for the team, emphasizing the inherent fluctuations in long tournaments like the IPL. “In general, spinners have had a tough time, but I think our spinners, Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya, have performed well, so we don’t really have reasons to worry,” Sriram told India Today.
He further highlighted the unpredictable nature of the tournament, stating, “Some games you win big, some you lose, and some are tight. In a 14-game league, you take each result, learn, and move on. The pressure is the same for everyone, and I believe our experienced players are well-equipped to handle it.”
Currently, both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow have 12 points from 11 matches, with Hyderabad slightly ahead in fourth place due to a better net run rate of -0.065, compared to Lucknow’s -0.371. Both teams are eager to secure wins in the crucial final stages of the league to clinch playoff spots.
