[Saba Sports News] Pakistan is eyeing their second World title in T20 cricket next month at the anticipated T20 World Cup 2024. On Sunday, May 5, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with the players and announced an enticing reward if they secure the coveted trophy.
Babar Azam-led Pakistan will kickstart their journey with tours to Ireland and England for T20I series, serving as preparation for the 20-team T20 World Cup. Against Ireland, Pakistan will play three matches on May 10, 12, and 14, followed by four T20Is against England on May 22, 25, 28, and 30.
Before departing for Ireland, Pakistan players received special jerseys from PCB chairman Naqvi at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Mohammad Rizwan and Naseem Shah were honored for their milestones achieved during the home T20I series against New Zealand. Rizwan crossed 3,000 T20I runs, while Naseem secured his 100th international wicket during the series. Naqvi also announced a $100,000 reward for each player if Pakistan clinches the T20 World Cup 2024.
“The PCB chairman announced a $100,000 prize for every player for winning the T20 World Cup,” the PCB stated.
Naqvi urged the players to focus solely on representing Pakistan, emphasizing teamwork for potential success. “The country has high expectations from you. You must meet them,” he added.
Babar & Co will commence their campaign in the global event on June 6 against co-hosts USA in Dallas, followed by the highly anticipated clash against India on June 9 in New York.
