[Saba Sports News] Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s performance in the ongoing IPL 2024 season. After a defeat against Chennai Super Kings in Dharamshala, Zinta emphasized the importance of winning home games for playoff qualification. Punjab has won only one out of six home games in this edition of the tournament and currently sits at eighth place on the points table.
Even if Punjab wins their remaining three matches, they will accumulate 14 points, which does not guarantee a spot in the top four. Zinta also noted the setback of losing Shikhar Dhawan early in the tournament due to injury. She acknowledged that losing four matches on the last ball was disappointing and thanked the fans for their unwavering support.
“Obviously, not very happy. We lost four games in the last ball. We lost our captain to injury. Some games were spectacular and some were not up to the mark. We will only do well in the future if we win our home games. Big thank you our fans for always supporting us through thick n thin,” Zinta tweeted.
In their recent match against Chennai, Punjab’s bowlers performed well, restricting the visitors to 167 runs. However, the batting lineup faltered once again, resulting in a 28-run loss. Next, Punjab will face Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dharamsala, followed by matches against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Winning all three matches is crucial for Punjab to stay in contention for the playoffs.
