[Saba Sports News] The recent IPL 2024 match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Eden Gardens was a high-scoring affair. In this 42nd match of the tournament, KKR set a formidable target of 261 runs, which PBKS impressively chased down, winning by eight wickets. Jonny Bairstow led the chase with a century, while Prabhsimran Singh opened with 54 runs and Shashank Singh contributed an unbeaten 68 runs from just 28 balls.
The match proved challenging for the bowlers, with PBKS’s Sam Curran, Kagiso Rabada, and Harshal Patel all conceding heavily. Similarly, KKR’s Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy, and Dushmantha Chameera struggled, with Rana giving up 61 runs in four overs.
Reacting to the onslaught, Ravichandran Ashwin expressed concern for the bowlers on X (formerly Twitter), posting “‘Save the bowlers’ someone plsss.”
Despite their struggles, the win helped PBKS move up in the standings. They now have six points from nine games and still hold hopes for a playoff spot. Next, they face defending champions Chennai Super Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium on May 1.
